FAQ

Questions

Getting started

Do I need to install anything?

Yes, one Windows app. Coin-Op City runs your machines on your own PC, and you add their links to OBS (or Streamlabs, or anything that takes a browser source), where they draw like any other overlay. Your chat connects straight from your PC to YouTube, Twitch and Kick. The app is opening soon: see Download.

Does it work on a Mac?

Not yet. The app is for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) for now.

Why does Windows warn me when I install it?

The app isn't code-signed yet, so Windows doesn't recognise it at first. When it says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. The Download page has the rest, including what to do if your antivirus objects.

Does OBS have to be on the same PC?

Yes. The machines' links only work on the PC the app runs on, which also keeps anyone else from reaching them. The control panel opens in the app's own window, and in any browser on that PC.

Does it take over my stream?

No, that's the point: it lives in a corner. The corner overlay is just the machine with a see-through background, so you drag it into a corner of your scenes and keep streaming as usual. Your chat plays it alongside whatever you're doing.

How big should it be?

Most streamers size it to about a quarter to a third of the screen's height, in a corner away from their camera. Names and wins stay readable at that size. You can resize it any time in OBS by dragging its corner.

Can I use it full screen?

Yes, as your Starting soon or Be right back scene: the full machine with the neon city, the leaderboard, the live feed and a banner you choose, with a countdown if you like. Chat keeps playing while you're away.

Is there a countdown for my starting-soon screen?

Yes. The Starting soon layout shows STARTING IN 09:59 in its banner. Type the minutes and press Start in your control panel (and add or take off a minute while it runs), or set your go-live time and it counts down by itself. At zero it says HERE WE GO! and the machine rains free coins on everyone watching. Your BRB layout can have its own countdown too (BACK IN 05:00).

Can I choose what shows?

Yes. In your control panel, each layout has switches for every piece: the background, the leaderboard, the live feed, the "type !drop to play" tag, the top-3 strip, the countdown, names on coins and alert cards. Make as many layouts as you have scenes; changes show in OBS instantly.

Which platforms does it work with?

YouTube, Twitch and Kick, on their own or all at once, plus StreamElements tips from any platform. Viewers play by typing in your normal chat.

What does my PC need?

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, and about 800 MB of space for the app and its songs, backdrops and voice. The app runs the machines on your PC, and OBS draws them with your graphics card. Any recent gaming PC handles it; there's a lighter quality setting for older ones.

Can it run while I'm away?

Yes, as long as the app is running: closing its window keeps the machines going. On your BRB scene, chat keeps playing on its own. Names and messages are filtered, spam is limited, connections recover by themselves, and the house drops a coin every few minutes so the machine keeps moving.

How it plays

How do viewers play?

On the coin pusher, any chat message drops a coin. !drop 20 drops 20 of their coins (and they can aim it: left, right, all over, random). Coins pushed off the machine are paid to their owner and to whoever pushed them. On the claw machine, chat types left, right, up and down to steer it together and drop to vote it down, and whatever goes down the chute pays everyone who steered. !coins, !stats, !skin, !color, !fireworks and song requests do the rest.

What happens when someone sends a Super Chat, bits, a sub or a tip?

It's celebrated: a thank-you card with their picture, the amount and their message (read out by an AI voice), then an effect on the machine that grows with the amount, from a shower of gold coins to an earthquake. Everything it knocks off is credited to them.

Can my viewers see their stats?

Yes. !stats in chat shows their career on stream, and !coins their balance and rank. The machine's leaderboard is on screen, and the stream's Career leaders page names the top viewer in each category.

Rules and safety

Is this gambling?

No. Coins are points only: viewers never buy them, and they can never be exchanged for money, gift cards, crypto or anything else of value. Gifts and subs support you, the streamer; the coins they drop are just part of the show. Keep it that way on your stream too: don't offer real prizes for coins.

Does it follow Twitch's simulcasting rules?

Twitch's written rules don't allow showing other platforms' chat activity on a Twitch stream while you simulcast, and one machine played by YouTube, Twitch and Kick together does that. Twitch currently doesn't enforce that rule, but it could, so it's your call. To keep to the letter, connect only Twitch, or stream to Twitch alone.

What do you do with my viewers' data?

Nothing: it stays on your PC. The app keeps only what the game needs (each viewer's public name and picture, their coins and their game stats), and none of it comes to us. See the privacy policy.

Billing

How much is it?

One machine (the Coin Pusher or the Claw Machine) is $12 a month, or $100 a year. All machines is $29 a month, or $290 a year, with every new machine included the day it arrives. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial: you add a card to start it, and you aren't charged until it ends. See pricing.

Can I cancel?

Any time, from Manage plan in the app. Your machines run until the end of the period you've paid for, and your viewers' coins and your settings stay on your PC.
